Training Safety, Accessibility & Participation
Limen Vitalis wants learners to participate safely and understand the physical and practical nature of hands-on emergency-response training. This page explains common training activities and how to contact us about participation needs before class.
Hands-On Training
Depending on the selected course, training may include chest compressions on manikins, kneeling or working near floor level, AED trainer use, ventilation practice, recovery positioning, choking-response skills, tourniquet application, wound-packing practice on training equipment, simulated bleeding, patient-assessment scenarios, equipment movement, and team-based exercises.
Accessibility and Participation Needs
If a learner has a disability, injury, mobility limitation, communication need, or other circumstance that may affect participation, the learner should contact Limen Vitalis before the scheduled class when possible. We will discuss reasonable ways to support access to the training while preserving any mandatory requirements of the applicable course.
Some third-party certification courses require specific skills demonstrations or evaluations. Limen Vitalis cannot waive a mandatory certification requirement that the applicable course provider requires for successful completion, but we can discuss the training environment and reasonable participation options in advance.
Personal Medical Information
Learners do not need to provide a detailed diagnosis merely to ask about accessibility or participation. Please provide only the information reasonably necessary to explain what accommodation or training modification is being requested. Do not send sensitive medical records unless Limen Vitalis specifically determines they are necessary and provides an appropriate method for doing so.
Simulation Materials
Some LV supplemental training may use simulated blood, wound models, dressings, tourniquets, gauze, manikins, or other training props. These materials are for education and simulation. Learners should not use training-only equipment as actual emergency equipment unless the item is specifically identified as a separate take-home product intended for real-world use.
Take-Home Equipment
When a course includes a take-home CPR pocket mask, tourniquet, or other emergency item, learners should retain the manufacturer's instructions and inspect the item as recommended by the manufacturer. Training on an item does not eliminate the need to follow product instructions, employer protocols, medical direction, or applicable law.
Infection-Control Practices
Reusable training equipment is cleaned and maintained according to the applicable equipment, course, and infection-control procedures. Learners may be asked to use barriers, individual training components, gloves, or other controls depending on the activity.
Illness
Learners who are acutely ill or may pose a meaningful communicable-disease risk to others should contact Limen Vitalis before attending. Rescheduling will be handled under the applicable scheduling and cancellation policy, with reasonable consideration given to the circumstances.
Clothing
Comfortable clothing that permits movement is recommended for hands-on classes. Some activities may involve kneeling, bending, or working at floor level.
Safety During Training
Follow instructor directions when using training equipment. Stop and notify the instructor if an activity causes unexpected pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or another safety concern. Training equipment should not be intentionally used on another learner in a manner that could cause injury.
Emergencies During Class
If an actual medical emergency occurs during training, simulation will stop and the situation will be treated as a real emergency. Appropriate emergency services may be activated based on the circumstances.
